First Communion Instruction will be held during the Lenten season. This is a 4-session class for students and parents to prepare your children to receive Holy Communion. Historically, our young people participate in this class during their 5th grade year or around the age of 10-years-old. However, we leave the decision as to when you would like your child to participate up to you, as we have had students both younger and older in the class.
The class will meet on Sundays at noon for about 30-45 minutes with homework for the family. The dates are: February 21st & 28th, March 7th and 21st.

| Youth groups from around Houston will get a real taste of hunger and have some fun too as we join half a million teens na-tionwide aiming to raise more than $12 million to fight world hunger. During the 30 hours, we will see how ―one empty stomach‖ can make a difference in the world. We will go without food (consuming only liquids) for 30 hours to ex-perience what the poorest children and families face every day. Last year, six groups gathered at Kinsmen for fun games, meaningful worship, worth-while service projects, and much more. We hope you will challenge your youth to join us for this year’s 30 Hour Famine. It’s a simple concept. We are going without food so that others can eat. | The congregations of Tx-La Gulf Coast Synod for the first time have the oppor-tunity to send a group of high school students and adults on an immersion ex-perience to the Lutheran churches in one of our companion synods in Peru.
