2009 Jr High Activity Highlights
- 8 Confirmation students on 2 teams with guides, Tracy Posey and Paula Curry. The parental support is awesome as they continue to prepare dinner for the group and encourage the kids to participate in servant and fellowship activities. Pastor Tim and Beth Horstman are the instructors and the curriculum also includes parental involvement that goes along with the 4 keys of faith formation.
- 7 youth attended confirmation camp at Luther Hill this year with adult sponsor Paula Curry
- Fellowship, servant and fundraisers this year include: Dune Restoration project, helped hide Easter eggs, VBS in Mexico, helped during Summer Sunday school, Rally Day and Camp Joy, served at Grand Slam and celebrated with trip to San Antonio, Fiesta Texas.
- As part of the curriculum, using music video and song bible studies from Interlinc!
- End of year Christmas party dinner for Jr. and Sr. High and parents hosted by the Posey’s.

| July 19 - 23, 2010: Camp Joy [read more] |
| Monday July 19th thru Friday July 23rd
3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Camp Joy preparations have begun, and the registrations are ready and available at our church office or download it here. This year, Camp Joy will take place July 19th- July 23rd beginning at 3:00 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. It is big fun for kids who will be entering Kindergarten through beginning 5th grade. High school and College-age team leaders from Camp Lutherhill in La Grange, adult and youth volunteers will lead campers through a week of fun, fellowship and faith development from 3:00 to 8:00. Each day will begin with Jump Start, songs and an introduction to the daily camp activities. Campers will then go through the afternoon and evening of Bible study, activities, crafts, and games that tie in with the overall theme. Dinner will be provided each evening and campers are asked to bring a small snack each day. Space limited to 40 campers total so please get your registrations to the church office beginning now though June 30th. Be on the lookout as more details emerge about this fun and exciting event for all ages. Price is $ 35.00 per child with a $ 10.00 sibling discount. | The congregations of Tx-La Gulf Coast Synod for the first time have the oppor-tunity to send a group of high school students and adults on an immersion ex-perience to the Lutheran churches in one of our companion synods in Peru. 2009 Sr High Activity Highlights
- Synod LYO leadership team members from Joy include 5 youth (Kayla Posey, Anja Senn, Aspen Timberlake, Courtney White, Zach White), 1 Ministry team coach (Chris Parnell) and 2 adult sponsors, (Tracy Posey, Cari White) who help plan and organize synod level gatherings for Jr. and Sr. High youth.
- First Sunday of every month is “Coffee House” where the youth just hang out, eat and build relationships.
- Fellowship, servant and fundraising activities included Dune Restoration project, helped with Summer Sunday School and Camp Joy, VBS in Mexico, Rally day, and hosted Easter breakfast.
- Graduation milestone celebrated for the 11 who are ready to begin a new chapter in their lives. This year we included the graduates’ bio in the newsletter and included a display table in the fellowship hall. During worship, they were recognized, blessed and given a gift.
- Sr. High community of service gathering in Burton, TX at Camp 4 All. 8 youth and 4 adult sponsors attend. Completed service projects at Faith Mission and Brenham State School.
- Sr. high had 13 youth and 4 adult sponsors attend the National Gathering in New Orleans in July 09. Participated in help with some of the 154 service projects that were performed. Thanks to everyone for all the financial and spiritual support.
